Security on the move: A photo exhibition from four Somali cities

The recently completed ESRC-funded project Security on the Move: Everyday Security of IDPs in Rapidly Growing Somali Cities concluded its work with a series of photo exhibitions in Somalia, Kenya, Norway and the UK. Focusing on four Somali cities – Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Baidoa and Bosasso – the research explored the situation of those living in displacement through first-hand research in camps and informal settlements with a range of Somali IDPs.

As part of this work, 40 displaced Somalis were also given cameras to document their experiences themselves. A selection of these images were featured in the exhibitions and are now available to view on the project website.
