A season of events from the City Evolutions project

The City Evolutions project, led by Professor Ron Martin, has been undertaking research on the historical trajectory of urban development in the UK and the future prospects of selected cities, including Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Peterborough and Tees Valley. Collating data on productivity, employment and other factors, the research charts the transition of these centres from manufacturing to services over the last four decades, in the process supporting the design of effective urban policies in the years to come.

As part of the project’s activities, City Evolutions is staging a number of workshops in its case study cities, bringing together policy makers to explore the particular dynamics of growth in their areas. Events have already been hosted in Glasgow and Tees Valley, with forthcoming sessions scheduled in Birmingham (13 June) and Bristol (21 June).
