Sustainable, Innovative, Resilient, and Interconnected Urban Food System (SIRIUS)

Duration: 05/19 - 04/22

Economic transformation, climate change and other forces have placed considerable pressure on urban food systems, yet the future of city food systems remain a relatively overlooked dimension of urban sustainability. Sustainable, Innovative, Resilient, and Interconnected Urban Food System (SIRIUS) seeks to address this gap through an innovative, interdisciplinary examination on food production and consumption in Chinese and European cities.

Through a comparative analysis of four case study areas in collaboration with a range of stakeholders in the urban food sector, the project will create a wealth of quantitative and qualitative research that will strengthen understanding of the drivers of vulnerability and resilience of food systems. Furthermore, it will also shed light on how new business models, social entrepreneurship and other innovations can deliver more sustainable food production.
